Everyday life

Your district, decoded: six Seoul neighbourhoods.

Each Seoul district runs its own office, website and local services, and your address decides which immigration office you use. Here is where to go in Mapo, Yongsan, Seodaemun, Gangnam, Seongdong and Dongdaemun.

  • Your registered address, not your workplace, decides your immigration office.
  • Mapo and Seodaemun use Seoul Southern Immigration; Yongsan, Seongdong and Gangnam the Seoul Immigration Office; Dongdaemun the Sejongno Branch.
  • Use the district website for local services and My Seoul+ for foreign-resident centres.

District office, dong centre or immigration?

Each district (구, gu) has its own office; each neighbourhood (동, dong) has a community centre.

Dong community centre · 주민센터

  • Certificates, waste rules and local questions. See the community centres feature.

District office · 구청

  • District services, local tax, welfare and jobs support, with an English website.

Immigration and support

  • Visa, residence card and address reporting: your district's immigration office via HiKorea or 1345.
  • English help, classes and counselling: a global village or foreign-resident centre (My Seoul+).
