Neighbourhoods
Compare the weekday, not the postcode.
A station name is only a starting point. Test the exact building, station exit and walk home at the times you will actually travel.
- Test a door-to-door commute, not only the train journey.
- Visit at departure time, after work and on a weekend.
- Treat these areas as scouting prompts, not rankings or price estimates.

Put the journey on your shortlist
Nearby streets can differ in noise, hills, crossings and useful shops. No area label can substitute for visiting the exact block.
Hongdae & Yeonnam
- Start at Hongik University for university, creative and social life.
- Compare quieter residential streets with entertainment routes; check late-night noise and your chosen exit.
Jongno
- Start at Jongno 3-ga for journeys to the old city or central business areas.
- Check older-building condition, stairs and evening street activity.
Wangsimni
- Test connections using Lines 2 or 5, Gyeongui-Jungang or Suin-Bundang.
- Time the interchange and the walk from the platform to your building.
Gangnam
- Consider it when work or study regularly takes you to southern business districts.
- Test peak-hour crowds, road crossings and the full accommodation cost.
Your test route
Record door-to-door minutes, transfers, walking and hills, the last return option and total monthly housing cost. The PDF's locator is schematic, not a navigation map.
