Choose for the trips you make.
A card that still taps may no longer carry its old benefits. The expanded edition explains the October 2026 transition and the registration step for resident benefits.
- Check live terms for your exact line, station and service.
- Register before relying on resident benefits.
- Plan airport and intercity ticketing separately.
The Climate Card transition
These dates and arrangements are reported by the PDF, whose principal transport sources were checked on 3 October 2026. Confirm current terms before buying.
Old monthly cards
- The edition says prepaid 30-day Climate Cards ended by 29 September 2026.
- Postpaid Climate Cards became ordinary transport cards on 1 October; temporary enhanced high-fuel-price discounts ended on 30 September.
Short-term cards
- The 1-, 2-, 3-, 5- and 7-day Climate Cards remain in the edition's October position.
- It describes coverage as Seoul plus Incheon Airport exit, excluding former neighbouring-city coverage. Check the exact journey.
Resident benefits
- Climate Pass adds Seoul benefits to Modu Card / K-Pass; the edition lists a Seoul youth category of 19–39.
- Foreign residents need a foreigner registration number and supported identity verification; issuer requirements also apply.
Registration matters
- Obtain a participating card and complete K-Pass registration.
- Prepaid products also need issuer registration and a refund account.
- Registered use is assessed in the same calendar month in Seoul's cited Q&A; refund timing is separate.
Compare spelling and numbers with your residence record and phone account. The edition lists K-Pass support on 031-427-4415; contact the card issuer for issuer-specific problems.
Keep a simple backup
A route with fewer transfers or reliable lifts may be better than the fastest route on paper.
Occasional and longer trips
- Use T-money or compatible pay-as-you-go cards for occasional journeys and maintain a sufficient balance.
- Check airport terminals, operator, fare and tickets separately.
- Build backwards from the departure deadline, allowing time for lifts, luggage, queues and traffic.
Accessible and late-night travel
- Check lift locations, long interchanges and support with the operator or 120.
- Last trains vary by line, station and day; night buses do not cover every neighbourhood.
- Keep phone battery and payment capacity for an unexpected taxi ride.
