A booking is not a filing.
Keep separate evidence of your appointment, submitted application and final decision. A reservation alone does not extend your permitted stay.
- Start with the status and expiry date in your own record.
- Match permission to the actual work or study activity.
- Keep the acknowledgement of every accepted submission.
Prepare the application, not just the appointment
The PDF describes common routes, not a status-specific document list. Confirm your own requirements with HiKorea or 1345.
First registration
- For most arrivals staying over 90 days, the guide describes registration within 90 days of entry; exceptions apply.
- Ask for your status-specific document list early enough to obtain missing evidence.
Before expiry
- The guide says extensions can normally be filed from four months before expiry.
- Eligible online applications have an earlier deadline: the day before expiry. Confirm service hours and current rules.
Your application file
- Prepare the current form, passport, residence card when issued and accepted address evidence.
- Add documents for your exact status and task; keep receipts and requests for further evidence.
Work and travel
- Check whether a new activity requires permission or reporting before starting.
- If an application is pending, ask the handling office how departure affects the application and re-entry.
When the route is unclear
Choose the service and office responsible for your actual task. An unavailable appointment is not permission to miss a filing deadline.
At the appointment
- Bring required originals, copies, forms and fees, and confirm the accepted payment method.
- Keep the appointment confirmation and proof of address.
Call with a clear question
- Have your status, expiry date, address and intended change ready for 1345.
- Ask what must be filed, by when, and what evidence proves acceptance.
The PDF records a 4 September 2026 announcement allowing eligible victims of violence, abuse or trafficking in protective facilities to apply through that facility's immigration jurisdiction. Ask the facility or 1345 about eligibility.
Do not confuse an address update with a report
Different changes have different deadlines and evidence requirements.
Place of stay
- Registered foreign residents generally have 15 days to report a change of place of stay.
- Confirm accepted accommodation evidence, especially if your name is not on the lease.
Workplace and identity
- Your status determines whether workplace changes require permission, a report or neither.
- Passport, name, nationality, school or organisation changes may also need reporting.
A lease report or a bank-address update does not automatically complete an immigration change-of-place-of-stay report.
